The goal of implementing vocational education in schools that are associated with the NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) is to train students to be productive and efficient workers while retaining global competitiveness through a variety of courses. The main goals are to bridge the gap between demand and supply of trained workforce linked with academic institutions and industry, as well as to lower the dropout rate in Tripura’s schools. The Tripura State Government’s School Education Department has implemented vocationalization of school education aligned with NSQF in 24 schools across the state in three sectors: IT-ITeS, Electronics & Hardware, and Agriculture, all of which have been approved by PAB, MHRD, and the Government of India.
From April 2019 in Class IX onwards, the Samagra Shiksha, School Education Department, Government of Tripura has introduced a National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant Vocational Education Program in three sectors: IT/ITES, Electronics & Hardware, and Agriculture in selected 24 Government Higher Secondary schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan with a single sector in each school in different districts.
Vocational Education (NSQF) is now being implemented in 135 Tripura schools.
